Michael McCann is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. He is responsible for overseeing the law school’s program of legal education, supervising senior staff offices and managing budgets. McCann is also Director of UNH Law’s Sports and Entertainment Law Institute and, along with attorney Daniel Wallach, co-created the groundbreaking Sports and Wagering Integrity Certificate program. In addition to his academic career, McCann is Sports Illustrated’s Legal Analyst. Since 2007, McCann has authored more than 700 legal columns for SI. He has written extensively on sports betting legal issues. Earlier this year, McCann and former UCLA basketball star Ed O’Bannon co-authored “Court Justice: The Inside Story of My Battle Against the NCAA” (Diversion Books, 2018). McCann is also the Editor of “The Oxford Handbook of American Sports Law” (Oxford University Press, 2017) and he has authored law review articles in the Yale Law Journal, Boston College Law Review and other top placements. In 2004, McCann served as counsel to college football star Maurice Clarett in his antitrust lawsuit against the NFL and its eligibility rule. McCann holds degrees from Harvard Law School, the University of Virginia School of Law and Georgetown University.
